At the end of each annual year several countries publish security reports containing facts and figures regarding current and future security threats and progress made regarding combating various security issues mapped. In these reports as well in the different themes of security and think-tank conferences several important trends are worth overviewing, when they are related in battling Islamism, Violent Extremism, Extreme Right, jihadism, and Islamic terrorism.
First there is clear evolution from security management to security governance, placing security into a wider context of civil society. Thus, while security management is primarily focused on assessing security risks, developing, and implementing strategies, processes, and tools to optimal eliminate risk and improve security.
